Police Outreach Programs

Police and Community Youth Clubs across Tasmania are unique youth organisations operating in partnership with Tasmania Police as part of our joint focus on early intervention to prevent and disrupt youth-related crime.

It is a collaborative approach to achieve positive outcomes for young people and divert them from the criminal justice system. Constable Ben Hughes is based at Hobart PCYC and undertakes to operate programs that engage strategies to:

• Work with young people to develop their skills, character and leadership;
• Get young people active in life;
• Improve youth relations with Tasmania Police;
• Improve youth mental and physical well-being;
• Connect with disengaged young people;
• Divert youth from the criminal justice system and establish positive pathways to education and employment;
• Reduce and prevent crime by, and against young people, and provide programs to suit all ages and lifestyles.
